American Literary Translators Association (ALTA)
The ALTA was formed in the year 1978 as a broad-based organization involved in the promotion of literary translation through services to literary translators, forums on the theory and practice of translation, providing a great deal of practical information of interest to all literary translators, collaboration with the international literary community, and advocacy on behalf of the translators. The organization also publish journals, research, publications, organizes conferences, events, calls for papers, prizes and other issues of professional interest.

American Translator's Association (ATA)
A professional association formed to raise the growth of translation and interpreting professions and also help in the professional development of individual translators and interpreters. International Federation of Translators (FIT)
The FIT is an international federation of organizations and associations in the field of translation having its members in over 60 countries. Professional translators can be a member of this association by joining organizations in their own country such as the ITI, Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association (ITIA) and Translators Association (TA). Hosting conferences , round tables, publishing publications, useful information about translators, research and translation studies, this organization's aim is to promote professionalism in the disciplines it represents.

Center for Literary Translation at Columbia University
The Center for Literary Translation was formed to promote the art and craft of literary translation and to acknowledge the role of translators as key cultural intermediaries, to promote the study of translation, increase the number and quality of the literary translations . Based in the Writing Division of the Columbia University School of the Arts, the Center is the joint creation of PEN American Center, the online magazine Words , the poetry journal Circumference and the Writing Division itself.
